Leeds is one of the largest cities in the UK and is located in Northern England in the county of Yorkshire. Leeds is approximately 44 miles north east of Manchester, 24 miles south west of York and 33 miles north of Sheffield.
The city benefits from excellent road communications being adjacent to the intersection of the M1 and M62 motorways. The M1 provides direct links to Rotherham, Sheffield and Nottingham to the south and Harrogate, Middlesbrough and Newcastle-upon-Tyne via the A1(M) to the north. The M62 provides motorway access to the Humber ports in the east and Manchester in the west.
Leeds Railway Station has direct Intercity mainline services operating to London (Kings Cross) every half hour, with a fastest journey time of 2 hours 13 minutes. Manchester can be reached within 1 hour and Edinburgh within 3 hours.
Leeds Bradford International Airport lies 13.5 km (8 miles) to the north-west of Leeds city centre and provides access to domestic and international destinations including Barcelona, Paris, and Rome. The airport currently caters for approximately 3.1 million passengers per annum, and is forecast to expand to approximately 4.9 million over the next five years. Leeds also benefits from 24 hour rail access to Manchester Airport, the largest airport in the UK outside of London.
